Power School Log In
Power School
I hope this helps you out and answers questions when you are navigating through the web site. When you log onto powergrade you see a normal progress report with all grades. If you click on the grade for each subject an overall list appears. The list page has quite a bit of information. The date is the date it was assigned, the category is what type of assignment it is, the assignment tells you the name of the assignment, there is the score which shows the point value, and finally the percentage and grade columns are self explanatory.
Categories
In Social Studies, there are different categories and each category factors differently into the overall grade. Grades are weighted. For example, Tests and Quizzes count towards 60% of the grade, class work counts towards 30% of the grade, and work in the Student Notebook counts towards 10%. Since tests and quizzes make up such a significant amount of the overall score, students will have the opportunity to do a retake.
Assignments
Some assignments are links in blue and some are just listed. Assignments in blue have more information, simply click on the link.
Scores
Most of the scores are listed as fractions in black. However, a few of the scores are listed in blue as links. Those that are blue have a note attached to them. Simply click on the blue part of the score to view the note. You will generally only see this if an assignment is late or there is some special circumstance.
Grades by Different Teachers and Emailing
Some of the grades are given by other teachers (Special Area, Reading, Math, Science, and Writing), and your child's grades are linked to that teacher's grade book as well. The teacher's name that is responsible for the grade is listed underneath each assignment area. If you have questions in regard to that particular grade, that is teacher you should contact. While you can click on that link and it will take you to email directly, it may not work. It depends on how you have set up your home computer. If your email is set up through a webmail company (yahoo, hotmail, etc...) this link will probably not work. An email box will appear, you will be able to type, and it will appear to send. It really will not though, unless you have programmed your computer to work in that manner. The best thing is to just log into your provider and send us an email that way.
Handwriting and Homeroom
No grades are listed in these subjects because no grades are given. Handwriting is listed as a category under writing and is given an E, S, I, N, or U (excellent, satisfactory, improving, needs improvement, or unsatisfactory). While there is no grade for Homeroom listed, I use it as a check off sheet for permission slips and such. If you want to make sure your child has submitted paperwork, you can check under this grade.
Letter codes
There are various letter codes. I primarily will be using “m” for missing and “l” for late. There is a list of what the letter codes mean underneath the assignments on power school. There is also a check mark which simply means that an assignment has been submitted, but no score has been recorded. Sometimes, I will enter a grade at a later date and sometimes a check will be the only mark recorded.
